You can multiple individual lines of rationale for each level within a sub factor or you can add all the description information on one line of rationale.

Many sub factor levels may have multiple separate requirements to achieve a full level score.  For example, for a sub factor, Interpersonal Skills and Contacts, to achieve a full level 3 the Job Class may need to meet all the requirements below:

  • Exchange information of a delicate or sensitive information
  • Internal and External Contacts
  • Informal negotiations

However if the Job Class only meets the first 2 rationale above, then an evaluator may want to assign a level 2.5.  By adding the above lines of rationale as separate lines in the Factor Rationale section, the top 2 lines can be individually highlighted during the evaluations so that future evaluators or review officers can understand why the half levels was assigned and not the full level 3.

This is not a requirement of a Job Evaluation, but allows for more flexibility and possibly accuracy in evaluations.  For some Job evaluation systems a Job Class must meet all the rationale within a level to achieve that level and they are assign the highest level for which they meet all the criteria, if this is the case for your Job Evaluation System you do not need to worry about splitting rationale into separate lines.
