If there are multiple male comparator Job Classes within a band the Compensation Tool determines the comparator based on the lowest Job Rate value.  If there are multiple male Job Classes with the same Job Rate, the Compensation Tool will choose the male Job Class with the lowest evaluation total by default.

If you wish to change the selected comparator to a custom comparator of your choice you may click the * (asterisk) beside the Male Comparator Job Class title in the Male Comparator column in the Pay Equity Analysis. Clicking the * will open a pop-up window which will display all the applicable (in band male Job Classes) that you can select to override the default.

Note 1: This selection will not impact any of the other years in your analysis, hence you will need to make this change in all applicable years if desired.

Note 2: If no other selections are available, the asterisk will still appear and you can still select the only male Job Class listed, this will ensure if a new male Job Class is added to the project within the band your selection will override the new Job Class even if it is a lower Job Rate or evaluation total.  If you do not explicitly select a male Job Class then the Compensation Tool will always rerun the analysis each time new Job Classes or other pertinent job data is added to the project.

Note 3: Any explicit selection of a male Job Class comparator in one banding scenario will have no impact on any other banding scenarios within the project.
