Description:

A "Band Count" Banding Scenario creates bands by equally splitting the Job Classes into a specific number of bands by taking the difference between lowest evaluated job point total (or select starting value) and the highest evaluated job point total and dividing by the number of bands chosen.

For example:

Lowest Evaluated Job Class Point Total (or selected starting value): 150 points

Highest Evaluated Job Class Point Total: 750 points

Difference: 600 points

Chosen number of Bands : 10

Hence each band would be 60 points wide (600 / 10 = 60)

How To Create:

After clicking the  + Add Banding Scenario  button start by naming your banding scenario in the Name field.  The Name is a simple field that is used so you can recognize the banding scenario in the future after it has been created.  Next select "Band Count" from the drop down menu under the "Banding Type" header.

The pop-up window will now customize to the Band Count type.

In the "Starting Point Value" field enter in the starting value as described above or select the the Lowest Evaluated Job radio button.

In the "Ending Point Value" field enter in the ending value as described above or select the the Highest Evaluated Job radio button.

IN the "Banding Count" field enter in the number of bands you would like to create.

Once completed select click the  ADD  button.

Your scenario will now appear in the Banding Table and you view it by clicking the  DETAIL  button in the row beside the newly created scenario.

IMPORTANT: Band Count banding types may not be able to evolve with your organization as it grows / changes, if new Job Classes are added outside of the Lowest / Highest point values the scenario will not update with these new values as this is not Pay Equity compliant.  If you encounter this scenario please contact custom service for assistance and guidance on how to deal with the situation.
